![]() It is one of the most commonly used drugs in polyherbal preparations clinically used in India for their potent antihepatotoxic activity in various liver disorders. It is also used in chronic dysentery, asthma, hepatic derangement, jaundice, and as a valuable antiperiodic in low continued fevers. In small doses, it is a bitter, stomachic and laxative, and in large doses, a cathartic, and used in the treatment of epilepsy, paralysis, as an emmenagogue, emetic, abortifacient, and antidote to dog bite.
